Job Description

The successful candidate will provide academic leadership in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Structural Integrity Engineering through excellence in teaching, research, student supervision, and industry engagement. Key responsibilities include designing and delivering undergraduate and postgraduate modules in NDT, welding inspection, structural integrity, and quality assurance. The role also involves supervising industry-based projects, master’s dissertations, and doctoral research. The candidate will be responsible for establishing and managing advanced NDT laboratories and inspection facilities, as well as conducting high-impact research in asset integrity, defect assessment, and advanced inspection technologies. The successful candidate is expected to secure external research funding, build strong industry partnerships, and contribute to professional certification programs. This position will also require technical expertise in sectors such as mining, energy, manufacturing, marine, oil and gas, and green hydrogen. The candidate will actively participate in curriculum development, academic administration, quality assurance, and the strategic growth of both the Department and the School.

Requirements

Should be in possession of a Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, PhD degree, specialized in Non-destructive Testing. Three (3) years of service as Senior Lecturer and a satisfactory record of teaching, research and publications, and service to the academic and wider community. A cumulative record of seventeen (17) publications, of which seven (7) must be refereed scholarly research outputs and must have been published since becoming Senior Lecturer; Of these, at least three (3) of the publications must be refereed journal articles.
