Job Description

Lecturing undergraduate and postgraduate courses. (e.g. Entomology, Biosystematics, Population Ecology, Ecosystem Ecology and Biostatistics). Supervising and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students. Engage in external research funding acquisition and research and publications. Community Engagement. Participate in Curriculum Development.

Requirements

Associate Professor: 

Should be in possession of a PhD degree in Entomology/Insect Ecology, with a strong practical experience in Ecological Modelling. Three (3) years of service as Senior Lecturer and satisfactory record of teaching, research and publications, and service to academic and wider community. A cumulative record of seventeen (17) publications of which seven (7) must be refereed scholarly research outputs and must have been published since becoming Senior Lecturer; Of these at least three (3) of the publications must be refereed journal articles. 

Must have a strong track-record of setting up local and international collaborations that attract research funding and must have successfully supervised postgraduate students at least in the last 5 years. A strong track-record of scientific publications in reputable journals in the field of Entomology/Insect Ecology is a key requirement. The candidate must have and excellent oral and written command of the English language. The decision to hire at the rank of Full Professor or Associate Professor will be based on the candidate's track record in attracting research funding, scientific publications and postgraduate student supervision.

Professor: 

Should be in possession of a PhD degree in Entomology/Insect Ecology, with a strong practical experience in Ecological Modelling. Three (3) years of service as Associate Professor and satisfactory contribution in teaching, research and publication, and service to the academic and wider community. A cumulative and sustained record of twenty-five (25) publications of which seven (7) must be refereed scholarly research outputs and must have been published since attaining the grade of Associate Professor; Of these at least six (6) of the publications must be refereed journal articles.

Must have a strong track-record of setting up local and international collaborations that attract research funding and must have successfully supervised postgraduate students at least in the last 5 years. A strong track-record of scientific publications in reputable journals in the field of Entomology/Insect Ecology is a key requirement. The candidate must have and excellent oral and written command of the English language.
