Job Description

Provide academic leadership in Accounting, Financial Management, and Emerging Accounting Technologies; Develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate modules in accounting and related disciplines; Supervise honours, master's, and doctoral students; Lead industry-relevant and policy-oriented research that addresses real-world business and societal challenges; Establish, develop, and manage modern accounting teaching and research facilities, including Accounting Information Systems (AIS), ERP platforms, financial analytics, auditing technologies, and digital accounting applications; Conduct research in accounting, financial reporting, corporate governance, auditing, taxation, sustainability reporting, financial management, and accounting education; Secure external research funding and manage research projects; Build strategic partnerships with industry, professional bodies, and other stakeholders; Promote innovation, digital transformation, knowledge transfer, and the practical application of research outputs; Provide departmental leadership, mentor early-career academics, and support staff development; Contribute to curriculum development, programme review, and quality assurance initiatives; Support the strategic objectives of the Department, Faculty, and University and perform any other duties as may be related to this position. 

Requirements

A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in any of the branches of the accounting discipline; A minimum of three (3) years academic experience at the rank of Senior Lecturer or equivalent; Demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, postgraduate supervision, curriculum development, and service to the academic and professional community; A proven record of scholarly research and publication outputs, including a cumulative total of at least seventeen (17) publication points/outputs, of which seven (7) must be refereed scholarly research outputs produced since appointment as a Senior Lecturer; Of the seven (7) refereed scholarly outputs, at least three (3) must be articles published in accredited peer-reviewed journals; Evidence of successful supervision of honours, master's and/or doctoral students will be an added advantage; Experience in attracting research funding, managing research projects, and establishing collaborations with industry, government, and professional accounting bodies is required; Demonstrated leadership in academic administration, quality assurance, staff mentorship, and programme development is required; Registration with, or affiliation to, a recognized professional accounting body will be an added advantage.
