- Job Description
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- assist with and facilitate the development and organisation of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching material for all the degree programmes that are supported by the Department of Human, Biological & Translational Medical Sciences;
- implement novel teaching methodologies, including online learning platforms;
- assist with and facilitate undergraduate and postgraduate assessment and examinations as directed by the Department;
- assist in the development and maintenance of the Division of Anatomy’s facilities;
- assist with the research activities of the department, including development of research proposals and grant applications, data gathering, publication of research findings, and participation in conferences;
- fulfil administrative duties which will include course coordinator support, and overseeing Departmental administrative staff to ensure that all logistical arrangements for the above responsibilities are in place to teach undergraduate and graduate students;
- actively conduct research;
- maintain continuous professional development and participate in the Departmental academic programme;
- any other duties considered by the Head of Department to be commensurate with the grade.
- Requirements
A PhD degree in Anatomy and a Master’s degree in Anatomy, or equivalent sub-specialty qualification from a recognized University. A minimum of 15 years of experience, of which three (3) years of service as Associate Professor, and a satisfactory record of teaching, research, and publications, and service to the academic and wider community. A cumulative record of twenty-five (25) publications, of which seven (7) must be refereed scholarly research outputs and must have been published since becoming an Associate Professor; of these, at least six (6) of the publications must be refereed journal articles. Registered or registerable with the Health Professions Council of Namibia (HPCNA). The candidate should have a proven record of successfully generating grant income to support research and /or teaching and/or development/outreach projects. A teaching qualification in Higher Education or Evidence of teaching Excellence.
