Job Description

The main duties include:

  • Conduct lectures with clinical medical students in the Department of Anesthesiology. The successful candidate is expected to moderate seminars/tutorials to clinical students.
  • Prepare and administer post-seminar tests to medical students, conduct bedside/ theater teaching to clinical medical students, teach and demonstrate procedures to clinical medical students in ICUs and operating theatres.
  • Carry out research, supervise students research projects, evaluate and assess clinical medical students, 4-Assess students’ performance including continuous assessments and tests, monitor of students attendance and signing of logbooks, evaluate and asses students assignments, prepare/set examination for clinical students both written and clinical, participate in internal moderation of draft examination question papers, invigilation of examinations and perform any other duties as may be required.
  • Postgraduate specialization support (curriculum development/ transformation, teaching and training delivery, Exam preparations and marking).
  • Research/ publication contribution.
Requirements

A relevant PhD and Master’s degree following a clinical entry-level MBChB degree or equivalent from a recognised University, plus registered or registerable with the Health Professions Council of Namibia (HPCNA) as well as a minimum of 12 years of clinical experience of which three (3) years of teaching experience with a cumulative record of seventeen (17) publications of which at least six (6) must be refereed scholarly works. Registered or registerable with the Health Professions Council of Namibia (HPCNA). Proof of active registration at the country of origin of specialization MEDICAL COUNCIL, and a Post-graduate specialization degree MMed or Fellowship- in the specialty.
