- Job Description
- To develop the teaching provision of the School and University, delivering high-quality research-led teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level
- To pursue excellence in teaching and pedagogy
- To teach undergraduate & postgraduate programmes
- Identify and lead opportunities for curriculum innovations
- Provide strategic focus and lead research activities in the Department
- Supervise and mentor postgraduate students
- Secure research funding, disseminate research findings
- Advise the School on academic programmes, research activities and mentorship programmes
- Requirements
- A relevant PhD in Pharmacy Practice (NQF 10) with relevant research, publications, clinical teaching experience, and service to the academic and wider community.
- A Master’s in Clinical Pharmacy and two (2) years experience precepting postgraduate clinical pharmacy students in direct patient care settings
- Experience as main supervisor for postgraduate students at both Masters and PhD level
- Proven ability to demonstrate creativity, innovation and teamworking within work environment
- Substantial teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate level, demonstrating teaching innovation and course development and design
- Proven ability to design, deliver and continuously develop modules across the Schools teaching programmes, contributing to the educational development of the University
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to disseminate complex and conceptual ideas clearly and confidently to others using high level skills and a range of media
- Registered or registerable with the Health Professions Council of Namibia (HPCNA)
- Evidence of collaborative research leading to successful impact
- Evidence of collaborations with industry and/or ability to source funding for research projects
- Proven ability to adapt to the changing requirements of the Higher Education community
- Evidence of ability to participate in and develop both internal and external networks and utilise them to enhance the teaching and research activities of the School
- Proven record of taking responsibility for academically related administration
Associate Professor:
- Served as Senior Lecturer for a minimum of three (3) years
- A cumulative record of seventeen (17) publications of which seven (7) must be refereed scholarly research outputs and must have been published since becoming Senior Lecturer; Of these at least three (3) of the publications must be refereed journal articles.
Full Professor:
- Served as Associate Professor for a minimum of three (3) years
- A cumulative and sustained record of twenty-five (25) publications of which seven (7) must be refereed scholarly research outputs and must have been published since attaining the grade of Associate Professor.
