Job Description
  • To develop the teaching provision of the School and University, delivering high-quality research-led teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level
  • To pursue excellence in teaching and pedagogy 
  • To teach undergraduate & postgraduate programmes
  • Identify and lead opportunities for curriculum innovations
  • Provide strategic focus and lead research activities in the Department
  • Supervise and mentor postgraduate students
  • Secure research funding, disseminate research findings
  • Advise the School on academic programmes, research activities and mentorship programmes
Requirements
  • A relevant PhD in Pharmacy Practice (NQF 10) with relevant research, publications, clinical teaching experience, and service to the academic and wider community.
  • A Master’s in Clinical Pharmacy and two (2) years experience precepting postgraduate clinical pharmacy students in direct patient care settings
  • Experience as main supervisor for postgraduate students at both Masters and PhD level
  • Proven ability to demonstrate creativity, innovation and teamworking within work environment
  • Substantial teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate level, demonstrating teaching innovation and course development and design
  • Proven ability to design, deliver and continuously develop modules across the Schools teaching programmes, contributing to the educational development of the University
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to disseminate complex and conceptual ideas clearly and confidently to others using high level skills and a range of media
  • Registered or registerable with the Health Professions Council of Namibia (HPCNA) 
  • Evidence of collaborative research leading to successful impact
  • Evidence of collaborations with industry and/or ability to source funding for research projects
  • Proven ability to adapt to the changing requirements of the Higher Education community
  • Evidence of ability to participate in and develop both internal and external networks and utilise them to enhance the teaching and research activities of the School
  • Proven record of taking responsibility for academically related administration

Associate Professor:

  • Served as Senior Lecturer for a minimum of three (3) years 
  • A cumulative record of seventeen (17) publications of which seven (7) must be refereed scholarly research outputs and must have been published since becoming Senior Lecturer; Of these at least three (3) of the publications must be refereed journal articles. 

Full Professor:

  • Served as Associate Professor for a minimum of three (3) years
  • A cumulative and sustained record of twenty-five (25) publications of which seven (7) must be refereed scholarly research outputs and must have been published since attaining the grade of Associate Professor.
