Job Description
  • Compiling Statement of Profit and loss and other comprehensive income, statement of financial position and the statement of cash flows for the inclusion in the monthly/quarterly management accounts.
  • Assess the impact of new or amendments to IAS and IFRS and advise changes.
  • Ensure that the University complies with the relevant tax and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist the Assistant Bursar to compile and review relevant financial policies and procedures.
  • Assist management with compiling the Separate and Consolidated Annual Financial Statements.
  • Compile the Audit file for Annual External financial audits and assist the Assistant Bursar with the communication between the external auditors and the UNAM staff.
  • Consolidate the departments and separate entities (subsidiaries) into the books of the University monthly/quarterly.
  • Manage the areas of financial reporting that require significant judgement.
  • Assist management with the assessment of the going concern assessment, to ensure that the financial statements are prepared on the correct basis.
  • Assist the Assistant Bursar to ensure that related parties and subsequent events (events after balance sheet) are correctly dealt with in the financial statements.
  • Communicate with various units and perform variation analyses for all technical accounting problems to frame accounting policies to ensure compliance with IAS and IFRS.
  • Co-ordinate the compliance monitoring function for the Finance Department/Office of the Bursar.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Accounting degree
  • Completed Articles at an Audit firm.
  • Postgraduate Qualification in Accountancy will be an added advantage.
  • (3) years relevant experience
