Job Description
  • The specific responsibilities include developing and providing creative and innovative teaching modules in the Master's of Applied Field Epidemiology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Field Epidemiology, such as Disaster Preparedness and Management. 
  • In addition, the candidate should be able to coordinate the field placement portfolios for Field Epidemiology residents and conduct support supervision of residents during field attachment in the different regions. 
  •  The candidate is expected to supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate research projects for students. 
  • The candidate should be able to organize cooperative work-integrated education (create field visit opportunities) for students, participate in community engagements, provide community service, collaborate with stakeholders and other partners, and undertake any other related activities across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as may be assigned.
  • The successful candidate is expected to actively engage in grant writing and consultancies, conduct research, publish, and contribute to the successful development of new courses, revision of existing curricula, and delivery of curricula across programmes in the Department.
  •  The candidate is also expected to participate and contribute to the collegial and intellectual life of the Department of Public Health, the School of Nursing and Public Health, the Faculty of Health Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, the University at large, and the wider community. 
Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • The candidate should be in possession of a relevant Master’s degree, or equivalent plus three (3) years of teaching experience.

Supplementary Requirements:

  • A Master's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or in Occupational Hygiene
  • A PhD in Occupational Health and Safety or Occupational Hygiene will be an added advantage.
  • Advanced skills in research methodologies, including postgraduate student supervision.
  • Additional skills required are IT, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • A qualification in Higher Education Teaching and Learning will be an added advantage.
