- Job Description
- The candidate is expected to assume a higher level of responsibilities in teaching, research, community engagement, development of new courses, designing and updating the curriculum for occupational health and safety, and delivery of curricula across programmes in the Department.
- The specific responsibilities include coordinating the Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
- The candidate should be creative and innovative in teaching modules such as Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, Risk Management, Occupational Hygiene and Toxicology, Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Safety Management, and Human Capital Management for Safety Practitioners.
- The candidate is expected to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects for students.
- The candidate should be able to establish and maintain relationships with industry professionals in the field of occupational health and safety, collaborate with them to enhance the practical relevance of the curriculum, participate in community engagements, and undertake any other related activities as may be assigned by the supervisors.
- The successful candidate is expected to actively engage in grant writing and consultancies, conduct research, publish, and contribute to the successful development of new courses, revision of existing curricula, and delivery of curricula across programmes in the Department.
- Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
The candidate should be in possession of a relevant Master’s degree, or equivalent plus three (3) years of teaching experience.
Supplementary requirements:
- A Masters Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or in Occupational Hygiene
- A PhD in Occupational Health and Safety or Occupational Hygiene will be an added advantage.
- Advanced skills in research methodologies, including postgraduate student supervision.
- Additional skills required are IT, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- A qualification in Higher Education Teaching and Learning will be an added advantage.
