- Job Description
The Social Work Field Practice Coordinator will oversee and strengthen the field education component of the Social Work programme. This position plays a key role in ensuring students receive high-quality professional practice learning experiences that meet academic, professional, and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate the planning, placement, and monitoring of social work students in field education settings.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with government departments, NGOs, hospitals, schools, and community organisations.
- Recruit, support, and train field supervisors and practice instructors.
- Conduct site visits to monitor student progress and provide support to students and supervisors.
- Ensure field education complies with university policies and professional accreditation requirements.
- Facilitate field orientation, workshops, and training sessions for students and field instructors.
- Assess and moderate field education reports and evaluations.
- Resolve placement-related concerns and provide guidance on professional and ethical practice.
- Maintain accurate placement records and prepare reports for departmental and accreditation purposes.
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in departmental meetings, research activities, and community engagement where appropriate.
- Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of Namibia
- A minimum of five (5) years’ post-qualification professional social work experience
- At least three (3) years' experience supervising social work student practice in a field practice organisation
- Experience in student field practice supervision and assessment in a higher education institution is highly desirable
- Experience coordinating field education or practicum placements will be an added advantage.
- Sound knowledge of social work ethics, legislation, and professional standards.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong report writing, administrative, and computer literacy skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with external stakeholder
- Valid driver's licence.
