Job Description

Contribution to Career Services and Student Experience Section; case management; student support programs and activities; academic support; vocational guidance; counselling; provide academic, psychosocial and other support services to students; develop support programmes for students; coordinate student empowering programmes; establish monitoring procedures for academic progress; tailor programmes for students that will contribute towards social and academic growth; employ the integrated approach in social work or psychology in problem solving; assess problems and employ a relevant approach for group and community work; create groups and communities in order to address specific needs of students; develop programmes that will address specific needs of students; perform any other related duties as may be required.

Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Psychology or any relevant field.  Minimum of five (5) years' experience of professional counselling, experience in counselling principles, techniques and practices that can be applied to student's problems and developmental needs. Must be registered with the Health Professional Council of Namibia. Experience in working with young people and diverse student population. Strong interpersonal and group presentation skills. Should be able to give effective advice, guidance and counselling. Ability to assess student's needs and design programmes to address them through knowledge and understanding of student matters at university level.
