- Job Description
Provide high-quality teaching and learning to undergraduate and postgraduate students across the University of Namibia, as required, while contributing to research, innovation, and community engagement.
Specifically, the successful candidate will be expected to:
- Deliver lectures, practical sessions, tutorials, and other teaching-related activities.
- Assess and evaluate student learning and provide timely academic feedback.
- Conduct high-quality research and publish in reputable scholarly outlets.
- Supervise Honours and postgraduate students.
- Develop research proposals and secure external research funding where possible.
- Participate in community engagement and professional service activities.
- Contribute to curriculum development, programme review, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Perform any other academic or administrative duties as may be assigned by the University Council, Senate, Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Executive Dean, Associate Dean, Head of Department, or other duly authorised University officials.
- Requirements
Applicant must already be in possession of a PhD degree in Microbiology or related areas at the time of application. A good track record of publications/postgraduate supervision will be an added advantage.
- A minimum of 3–5 years' teaching experience in Microbiology or a closely related discipline. Applicants with demonstrated expertise in Microbiology, particularly in Genetics or related fields, will have an added advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise both Honours and postgraduate students.
- Proven competence in research design, proposal development, and grant writing.
- A strong commitment to contributing to the Department's research activities and/or establishing an independent research programme in a relevant field of Microbiology.
