Job Description

To initiate, direct and motivate the strategies, policies and plans relating to Organisation Development that includes Human Capital development, staff training, wellness of staff, and compliance with the Affirmative Action Act in line with the University’s vision, mission and strategic goals. To ensure that HR policies and procedures are developed and/ or reviewed and complied with and performing relevant and related duties as may be required from time to time.


1. ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (OD)
• Ensuring implementation of organizational development programs.
• Conducting organisational development assessments, analyzing data and proving recommendations. 
• Ensuring that employee orientation (induction), wellness, learning and development programs, are implemented.
• Collaborating on performance management, talent management, and succession planning and risk management.
• Facilitating the development and/or review of Human Capital policies and procedures. 
• Managing staff within the department.
• Supervising and provide leadership and strategic directive to the department.
• Managing risk that is identified in the OD department.
• Planning, Managing and overseeing the OD budget.
• Providing regular reports on the operations in the section.


2. WELLNESS OF STAFF 
• Ensuring the implementation and monitoring of wellness initiatives and programs to improve employee health and well-being of the university staff.

3. COMPLIANCE WITH THE AFFIRMATIVE ACTION PROVISIONS IN THE ACT
• Managing and monitoring of the employment equity programs, processes in line with policies and Affirmative Act
• Verifying and ensuring the proper drafting of the AA Report

4. LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
• Facilitating and managing skills audit and training needs analysis. 
• Facilitating the implementation of training programs to improve skills and development at UNAM.
• Facilitating the provision of statistical data on trained staff.
• Assisting in the compilation of the staff development model based on scarce fields and priority training areas at UNAM.
• Ensuring that all matters relating to staff development are attended to.
• Managing and implementation of the staff development policy

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to communicate at all levels within the institution. 
• Good administrative, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent presentation and facilitating skills.
• Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
• Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
• Ability to design and implement effective training and development.
• Excellent leadership skills, ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
 

Requirements

Requirements:
A Master’s degree in Human Resources Management or relevant field coupled with five (5) years’ experience in the field of expertise of which three (3) years should be at a middle management level with good management, administrative and organisational skills and any other job specific criteria as may be required, 

Or 

A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or relevant field coupled with eight (8) years relevant experience in the field of expertise of which three (3) years should be at a middle management level with good management, administrative and organisational skills and any other job specific criteria as may be required.
