- Job Description
The incumbent will provide leadership in Surface Engineering, Thermal Spraying, Coatings Technology, and Materials Protection. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules in thermal spraying, surface engineering, corrosion engineering, tribology, wear protection, and advanced coatings; supervising postgraduate research and industrial projects; establishing and managing surface engineering and coatings laboratories; conducting research on thermal spray coatings, corrosion protection, wear resistance, remanufacturing technologies, and asset life extension; attracting research funding; developing partnerships with industry and government agencies; providing consultancy services; and contributing to the advancement of sustainable manufacturing, industrial maintenance, remanufacturing, and materials performance solutions for mining, marine, energy, oil and gas, and green hydrogen sectors.
- Requirements
- Should be in possession of a Mechanical Engineering PhD degree, specialized in Thermal Spraying.
- Three (3) years of service as Senior Lecturer and a satisfactory record of teaching, research and publications, and service to the academic and wider community.
- A cumulative record of seventeen (17) publications, of which seven (7) must be refereed scholarly research outputs and must have been published since becoming Senior Lecturer; Of these, at least three (3) of the publications must be refereed journal articles.
