Job Description

The incumbent will provide academic leadership in Additive Manufacturing (AM) and Advanced 
Manufacturing Technologies, with a focus on translating research into practical applications and developing modern laboratory infrastructure. Responsibilities include designing and delivering teaching modules in additive manufacturing, digital manufacturing, design for additive manufacturing (DfAM), and smart manufacturing. This role involves supervising undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students and leading industry-driven research projects to ensure the application of AM solutions to real-world challenges. A key responsibility is the establishment and management of advanced additive manufacturing laboratories, which will include facilities for polymer and metal processes supported by digital design, simulation, and 
testing systems. Additionally, the incumbent will conduct research in additive manufacturing, advanced materials, and manufacturing optimization, emphasizing innovation, prototyping, and commercialization. This will involve securing research funding and managing related projects.

Requirements
  • Should be in possession of a Mechanical Engineering PhD degree, specialized in Additive 
    Manufacturing. 
  • Three (3) years of service as Senior Lecturer and a satisfactory record of teaching, research and publications, and service to the academic and wider community.
  • A cumulative record of seventeen (17) publications, of which seven (7) must be refereed scholarly research outputs and must have been published since becoming Senior Lecturer; Of these, at least three (3) of the publications must be refereed journal articles.
