Job Description

The Institutional Risk Manager provides leadership and enterprise-wide oversight of the University's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function. The role is responsible for the design, governance, strategic alignment and continuous enhancement of the University's ERM framework, ensuring that risk management is embedded within institutional strategy, decision-making processes, performance management and longterm sustainability. Amongst others, the role is responsible for: preparing consolidated institutional risk 

Requirements

Preferably an MBA or relevant master’s degree [NQF Level 9] in Risk Management, Business Management, Law or Internal Auditing or a related field or A bachelor’s degree in any of the above or equivalent fields, coupled with an appropriate professional risk management qualification. 

In addition, membership of a professional body (e.g., the Institute of Risk Management or any other relevant body in risk management or equivalent) is required.  Specialized training in risk management, such as Professional Risk Manager (PRM) certification, Certified Risk Management Professional (ISO 31000), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Training in Business Continuity Management and ESG Risk Management or similar will be added advantage. 

At least five (5) years’ experience in the area of specialization, of which three (3) years should be at a middle management level in risk management, governance, assurance, compliance related roles, when coupled with a master’s degree or  

Eight (8) years of relevant experience, with three (3) years in a middle management position in the area of specialization, when coupled with a relevant bachelor’s degree.  

Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing enterprise-wide risk management frameworks; and Experience in integrating risk management with strategy execution, business continuity and organizational resilience will be added advantage.
