Job Description

Lecture the following modules: 

  • Teaching Methods of Adult Education, Foundations of Adult Education, Principles of Adult Education Research, Policies and Practices, Adult Learning and Development, methods of facilitating learning, Leading and Managing Community Resources, Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Sustainability.
  • In addition, the candidate should be able to supervise Masters and PhD theses/Dissertations. Participate in research activities in the Department. Responsible for the development of research course materials /study guides /manuals for full time and distance learning students. 
  • Provide community service relevant to the Department and University as whole. Serve on Boards and other Committees pertaining to fulfilment of the mission of the University as required from time to time. Assist with development and presentation on non-formal courses when required.
Requirements
  • A relevant PhD/Doctorate in Adult Education/Training and Development/Governance and Policy Studies in Adult Education/Community Development/Original learning and Development from a recognized Institution of Higher Learning with at least (3) years relevant lecturing experience at university level.
  • A satisfactory record of teaching, research, publication, and service to the academic and wider community. 
  • Extensive publications in peer reviewed journals, book chapters and research grants are an essential skill for this position and Good knowledge of SPSS or Atlas.ti. 
  • A Master’s degree with the required experience and publications may be considered.
